Sustainable farming project in Cusco, Peru
This projects takes place in the home for the mentally disabled children and adults in Cusco. It helps 68 patients (children and adults) with 10 staff members and local volunteers. The home has a bio-garden that produce vegetables, tubers and herbs (lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, onions, radish, potatoes…. etc.). All the vegetables are used to feed the patients and staff working at this organization. The patients are provided three meals per day.
This volunteering opportunity will challenge your muscles and break a sweat!!!!! Your help is needed to clean the land, plant new trees, water the plants and everything related to maintaining the crops and ensuring the land continues to produce. No previous experience is needed.
You will work from 8:30am- 11:30am M-T-W-F (not on Thurday). There are some exceptions and your help may be needed on a Thursday or Saturday (this will be agreed in advance.).
This volunteer program offers you 15 hours of Spanish classes. The classes are designed for you to learn grammar, vocabulary, writing, and polish your pronunciation to communicate with (the patients, students, staff, etc.) the individuals you will be working with during your volunteering time.
